Questions, answered.
Where is Hugga Retreats?
Hugga is on 42 private acres in Hocking Hills, Ohio, at 20644 Kalklosch Rd, Logan, OH 43138. It is about 1 hour from Columbus, 2.5 hours from Cincinnati, 3.5 hours from Pittsburgh, and 4 hours from Indianapolis. Ash Cave and Old Man's Cave are about ten minutes away.
Which cabins have a private sauna and cold plunge?
All four. Every Hugga cabin has its own private sauna, cold plunge, and hot tub, plus a fire pit with firewood included, a full kitchen, fast WiFi, heat and A/C, and a Level 2 EV charger. Nothing is shared with other guests.
What is the difference between the four cabins?
Prairie Cabin: Open skies and golden light. Sleeps up to 6, 2 bedrooms (King beds), 2.5 baths. Rock Cabin: Grounded in stone and stillness. Sleeps up to 6, 2 bedrooms (King beds), 2 baths. Creek Cabin: The sound of water. Nothing else. Sleeps up to 8, 2 bedrooms (Queen beds), 2 baths. A deconstructed cabin: bedrooms and living space are in separate buildings. Pine Cabin: Sheltered beneath the canopy. Sleeps up to 6, 2 bedrooms (King beds), 2 baths. The most private of the four. A deconstructed cabin: bedrooms and living space are in separate buildings.
Are dogs and pets allowed?
Yes. Every cabin is pet friendly, there is no pet fee, and the trails start right at the door.
What are check-in and check-out times?
Check-in is after 3:00 pm and check-out is by 11:00 am. Entry is self check-in with a door code.
Is there a minimum stay?
Weekend stays ask for two nights. Sunday through Thursday, one-night stays are welcome, and weeknight rates are well below weekend rates. Some holiday dates require a longer minimum.
What is the cancellation policy?
A 50% deposit is charged at booking and is refundable up to 14 days before arrival. The balance is charged 14 days before arrival, when the reservation becomes non-refundable. Bookings made within 14 days of arrival are charged in full at booking.
Can a group book more than one cabin?
Yes. All four cabins sit on the same property, so a group can book several together for up to 26 guests. Group retreats are a two-night minimum, and there is a dedicated group retreats page for planning.
Is Hugga good for a romantic getaway or anniversary?
Yes. Each cabin is entirely private, with its own sauna, cold plunge, hot tub, and fire pit, and clear nights are dark enough to see the Milky Way from the deck. Guests can arrange a private in-cabin dinner with Columbus chef John Lawrence, and a partner winery is 18 minutes away.
Is Hocking Hills worth visiting in winter?
Winter is one of the best times to come. Ash Cave and Old Man's Cave freeze into ice columns most winters, the trails are quiet, and the cabins are heated with hot tubs running all season. Sauna, snow, cold plunge, fire is the whole idea.
Can I work remotely from a cabin?
Yes. Every cabin has high-speed WiFi and a full kitchen, and midweek stays are quieter and cost less.
How hot is the sauna and how cold is the plunge?
Saunas heat to 170 to 190°F in about 20 minutes. The cold plunge chills as low as 39°F.
Is there EV charging?
Yes. Every cabin has a Level 2 charger. Rock Cabin has a Tesla connector; Prairie, Creek, and Pine have J1772 plugs.
